Turkey Persuasive Writing Unit
I know this is very last minute but I am hoping that there are some teachers out there looking for some writing plans for the three days of school this week! We have done this unit the past couple of years and my students ABSOLUTELY love this! I have found that I get some of their best writing out of this unit. Everything is right here to make it easy planning for you! The lesson is in SMART. The one problem that I have with SMART is the inability to embed fonts so the font is Comic Sans. If you are like me (a Font Fanatic) - you can change the font to your liking! There is also the Planning Page for the students to write their paragraphs and turkey writing paper if you want your students to write a final draft. Here are some pictures of what is included and a few of my students Turkey Persuasive Writing!
Two of the final products! I tell my students these will be something their parents will save and they will take out and read to their grandchildren on Thanksgiving Day some day. I think these are so stinkin cute!!

BBQ Bash Money Bump FREEBIE
A struggle that I see year after year with my students is money! If that means making change or counting money. I made this game to reinforce the skill of counting money. Students are paired and draw a card. They will count the money and place their marker on that space. If they get two of the same amount, they can lock the space and keep building from there. The space isn't locked until they get two markers on that space. This is where the excitement is created - the students are excited to be counting money because of the thrill of bumping their partner off their space! The only additional materials will you need to play this game is something to stack on the game mat. I hope that this game comes in handy!

Reading Street Focus Wall
I have now had almost one unit under my belt of Reading Street! After the first week, I knew that I needed to make a focus wall. This would not only be beneficial towards my students but also for me! I have my focus wall right behind my meeting place for guided reading groups. This makes everything in one place and then I can easily pull materials from my focus wall to use for my groups. I decided to include the skills from the Reading Street Pacing Guide. Here is what I have included:
1. Comprehension Skill - Poster for each skill
2. Comprehension Strategy - Poster for each skill
3. Vocab - Poster for vocab skill along with the picture vocab cards
4. Phonics - Poster for phonics skill
5. Retell - I am using the retell cards that came with the series
6. Genre - Poster for each genre
7. Theme - We write down the theme for the story on the board

Clean and Messy Desk Freebies
There are so many Freebies out and about, I felt like I needed to post one. I love to use these Clean and Messy Desk tags to help my kids stay organized. There are several different colors to choose from. (and I think I need to do some updated Chevron tags!!) I try to put these on my kiddos' desks about every two weeks or so. Sometimes, I give them a small reward and sometimes they just get a pat on the back. Those who get the Messy Desk tags have to clean out their desk and have it approved by the Teacher Helper in order to give up their Messy Desk tags. I have found these to be extremely helpful in keeping students on their toes when it comes to desk organization! Click on any of the images below to get this Freebie!! Enjoy!

Inspired by Ginger Snaps Blog
You need to check out Ginger's post from Ginger Snaps about a great technology website. Click on the image below to visit her post.
The website she is talking about is: http://ifaketext.com/. I was trying to think of new ways to engage my students during Lit Stations. I like them to respond to their reading during Independent Reading Time but I want it to be a quick response and something that gets them excited. I started wondering if there was a fake texting site so I went searching on Google and, lo and behold, I found this site. It's really easy to use and the kids enjoyed "texting" their written responses to me. The kids loved it so much that I created a product called Text Me! Reading Response Sheets. Here is a quick picture-if you want to see the skills included, click on any image to go to my TpT store.
I would love to give one of these babies away for FREE!
I am currently working on a nonfiction version of Text Me!Reading Response Sheets for nonfiction. Leave me a nonfiction question that you would like to see included in my new product. If I haven't already used that question, I will send you this product for FREE! I will give this away to the first three questions I haven't used!

What is your classroom theme?
I have finally finished my first classroom theme package-The Learning Clinic. My friend and colleague, Katy Keller, inspired this theme. She had asked me to create a few items for a medical themed classroom last year and I did but then I found some super cute background papers from Jessica Weible's website, JW Illustrations: Clipart. And guess what? Yes, I had to redo it all and I have to say I think it turned out pretty darn cute. So, Katy, your project is done. I sure hope you like everything as much as I do!
Now, what should be my next theme? Mad Scientists, Airplanes, Americana????
p.s. You can find my products at our TpT store:
